Stephen Hill

Originally from the Toronto, Canada area, Steven comes from                                               a rich piping background; including the late Pipe Major            Roland Hill of the Seaforth Highlanders and the late Pipe          Major Robert Hill of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders                                             both of Scotland.  The black sheep in the family, Steven                  started drumming at ten years of age.  Quickly rising through                                           the ranks, he joined his first grade one pipe band, The MacNish Distillery, at the age of fifteen.  Steven has had  experience as a leading drummer in every grade of competition including the grade one Scotsaire Pipe Band from London, Ontario.

At the age of eighteen Steven entered the Professional grade

for solo competition and enjoyed many successes at major contests in Canada and the U.S..  Receiving his judge’s accreditation from the P.P.B.S.O. in both Drumming and Ensemble he actively judges in the U.S. and Canada.

Steven has played with the 78th Fraser Highlanders, Toronto Police and currently plays with the Peel Police Pipe Band.  

Steven actively teaches and enjoys developing talent at all levels.  He currently works with bands in the Windsor/Detroit area where he now resides, and conducts workshops regularly.  Among Steven’s greatest influences are John Kerr and John Fisher for their gift of musicality and passion for the art of pipe band drumming.
