A reminder to all potential competitors that the deadline to enter the Saturday, June 10, Georgetown Highland Games is this coming Saturday (May 20). As always, with the exception of the Glengarry Highland Games (Maxville) entries must be received 3 weeks in advance. Entry forms can be found here.
A note that the trend that has been set in the last 5 years is low solo percussion entrants, especially in bass and tenor categories. There is a cost to staging solo competitions and unfortunately The Pipers’ & Pipe Band Society of Ontario, along with our games partners, cannot continue presenting solo events with one or two entrants. As was the practice in years past (about 10 years ago) we will be looking to exercise rule C-3.1:
The PPBSO reserves the right to cancel an event or change the number of
prizes awarded if fewer than four competitors have enrolled in the event at
the closing date.
As a matter of policy, the practice pad, practice chanter and grades 4 and 5 solo events will not be subject to this rule as these entry level grades represent an important gateway to piping and drumming.
Current entry levels for Georgetown can be viewed here. Should an event be cancelled entrants will be notified and entry fees will be refunded.
If you haven’t already entered consider signing up today!
