Reduced registrations scuttle online SummerBlast; Plans progressing for autumn in-person workshop

Despite a hugely positive response to last year’s SummerBlast! online piping and drumming school, low registrations for this summer’s event have rendered the school non-viable for this year. Instead, the PPBSO will mount a one-day workshop that will take place in the fall.

An in-person autumn workshop will replace the online PPBSO summer school

“Online attendees last year were nearly universal in their support for an online SummerBlast! school again this year,” said PPBSO President Michael Grey. “However, with summer upon us and the world opened up again, people are out and about and the appetite for an online school has clearly waned.”

“So, unfortunately, SummerBlast! will take a hiatus for this year. We are currently arranging refunds for registrants, and moving ahead with plans for a major Saturday workshop in the fall period, possibly November.”

The workshop will bring SummerBlast! instructors and others together, likely in southwestern Ontario, for a full day of in-person piping and drumming instruction.

Details will be announced in the near future.
