Graham Kirkwood (1969 - 2023)

Graham Michael Kirkwood, 54, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2023. He was a kind and thoughtful soul, and he will be greatly missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Although taken too soon, his family hopes that he is humming pipe tunes, playing drum scores, and marching away in massed bands in the sky.

Born in St. Catharines, Graham moved to Oakville in 2000, when he and his wife, Patricia, married. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son, James, and his mother, Elizabeth. Graham is preceded in death by his father, James, and his brother, Lindsay.

Graham’s pride and joy was his son, James. He was the epitome of happiness as he watched his son progress through the milestone developments into the musician he is today. Graham was an avid pipe band player, professional drummer, and adjudicator, and he shard his passion with his wife and son. He taught and played in many pipe bands in his drumming career, and he was always grateful to be able to play in the same band with his son and wife. Graham’s dream was to play at The World Pipe Band Championships one last time with James.

Along with playing, Graham was a great story-teller, and he loved giving a good punch-line or one-liner whenever listening to stories of old. He loved watching sports, in particular, his teams from Buffalo, and he was always glued to the TV when The Bills or The Sabres played. He enjoyed spending vacation time with his extended family in Cape Breton, and he had hoped to one day to spend some of his retirement time, here.

Donations in Graham’s memory may be made to The Agnew-Harrison Invitational, a professional drumming contest very close to his heart. Please contact The Niagara-Hamilton Branch of the PPBSO.

Funeral arrangements have been made at Glen Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, September 9th , 2003 at 1:00 pm. Patricia and James encourage that highland dress be worn in honour of Graham.

“Always remembered, never forgotten, Graham. We will love and miss you forever.”
