The first competition of the 2013 PPBSO season held on Saturday, June 8 2013 in Georgetown saw Peel Regional Police march off the field first, having claimed 1st place in the flagship Grade 1 medley contest. With pleasant temperatures, and under a sky that was alternately cloudy and sunny, 37 bands competed in front of a big crowd, in what we hope will be the start of a good weather year for the Ontario games’ circuit. Ottawa Police put in a very strong performance in their MSR competition, winning the grade 2 contest. We look forward to seeing them playing up in grade 1 next week at Cobourg, as they will utilize the PPBSO’s new “challenge up” rule to test their mettle against a strong field of Grade 1 bands, which will include all three Ontario grade 1 bands, as well as Boghall & Bathgate, one of the world’s top bands.
