Consider chipping in!

Pipers and drummers in general, never mind members of pipe bands, typically have busy lives. But, at the same time, throughout its existence since 1947, the PPBSO has relied on the contributions of volunteers from its ranks to steer and run the business of the Society.  Without volunteers, there would be no PPBSO. Without the PPBSO the experience of pipers, drummers and pipe bands in Ontario would be very different from what it is today.

One only needs to travel overseas to experience a fragmented approach to running solo and pipe band contests, where many competitions have their own organizing committee and stewards who often lack experience and expertise to make things run smoothly and on time.  The PPBSO is incredibly good at delivering this service to its members as well as to the Games and Festivals that rely on us.

Without volunteers to assist in so many ways, your pursuit of our arts would not be as plentiful and fulfilling as they are today.

Currently the PPBSO is seeking volunteers to assist with committee work such as:

  • a proposed ad hoc Resource Committee responsible for sourcing government and agency grants in support of youth opportunities, and arts and culture, as well as private-sector sponsorships of events and projects.

  • a committee to formulate a strategic plan for the Society, looking 3 – 5 yrs into the future to determine our priorities and the resources required to meet those priorities.

  • if you have a talent to drive and deliver our communications to keep members up to date on what is going on within the Society, and also to appeal more broadly to the public so as to attract new pipers and drummers for our member pipe bands.

  • Hamilton Highland Gathering Organizing Committee

These are just four areas where volunteers can make a monumental contribution, but there are others, depending on individual talents and interests.

This is an opportunity for members to give back and to be instrumental in building our special community.

Please reach out me at brad.davidson@ppbso.org to let me know you are able and willing to help in some way.
