Any pipers and drummers looking for something to do at the March break? - look no further! Here's an opportunity to sharpen your skills and kick off March Break by joining the one-day youth piping and drumming workshop on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

The workshop, which is being sponsored by the Niagara-Hamilton Branch of the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) in partnership with the Ontario Youth Pipe Band, will take place at the Scottish Rite, located at 4 Queen Street South in Hamilton, Ontario. The full-day event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is open to anyone 18 years and under. Some entertaining activities will follow.

The workshop is designed to accommodate all experience levels, from beginners who are just starting their piping or drumming journey to more advanced players looking to refine their technique and musicality. For a fee of twenty dollars, participants will receive instruction from experienced instructors and performers in a supportive and engaging environment.

There will be morning sessions for pipes, snare, bass and tenor, then some fun activities followed by lunch, and then further group band sessions.

There will be a professional contest in the evening that the OYPB will perform at to open the night's events. Many of the instructors from the day will also be performing in the evening.

This workshop also serves as a gateway for participants to sign up to join the Ontario Youth Pipe Band of Ontario (OYPB) for 2026. The OYPB brings pipers and drummers from any band together for fun opportunities such as pipe band workshops and non-competition performance opportunities during the Summer.

Membership in the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario is not required to participate, making the event accessible to any interested youth.

Registration details and additional information are available through the PPBSO Niagara Hamilton Branch website at:

The deadline to sign up for this workshop is March 11th.

This March break workshop aims to foster youth development, encourage musical growth and highlight the social side of our amazing piping and drumming community across Ontario.
