The 51st Annual Georgetown Highland Games took place yesterday at the Georgetown Fairgrounds, once again attracting huge crowds with long lines at the gates. The weather was perfect, with hot temperatures and beautiful sunshine creating an ideal setting for the day.

Just as we saw at last weekend's Hamilton Highland Gathering, the Georgetown Highland Games saw a growth in solo registrations, particularly in the piping competitions. The contests were held throughout the fairgrounds and ran smoothly thanks to the dedication and hard work of our outstanding team of stewards and judges, whose commitment makes these competitions possible.

In the afternoon, the band circles were busy, with a total of 32 bands performing on the field, an increase over last year's event. The PPBSO was also excited to include a juvenile band contest, with both the Hamilton Police Pipe Band and Durham Regional Police Pipes & Drums competing. We were also pleased to welcome the City of Regina Pipe Band, who made the journey all the way from Saskatchewan to join the festivities and add to an outstanding day of piping and drumming.
