The PPBSO has once again partnered up with The Scottish Rite and Hess Village to present the 2nd annual Hamilton Highland Gathering, a unique inner-city slate of piping and drumming competitions. The event takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, on the historic grounds of the Scottish Rite

EVENT ADMISSION

SOLO & BAND COMPETITION

Pipe and Drum solos will start at 8:30 am, beginning with the Piobaireachd contest and the band contests will conclude by 4:00 pm.​

Enjoy a day of Scottish culture and entertainment, including event T-shirts, a “Come and Try” Pipes and Drums experience, and a delicious BBQ alongside the sounds of piping and drumming. Indoor washroom facilities will be available courtesy of Scottish Rite management.

This year, we're also excited to offer “Open Stage”, an exciting mid-day showcase that invites musicians of all ages and skill levels to take the stage, whether they play the bagpipes, drums, fiddle, or other traditional instruments, to celebrate the rich traditions of Scottish heritage.

CLOSING CEREMONY & AWARDS

 

At approximately 3:30 pm, the pipe bands will march from the Scottish Rite courtyard to Hess Village, where the streets will come alive with the sounds of pipes and drums. Local bars and restaurants are also joining the celebration with Scottish-themed specials and festivities.

The Donald Pringle Memorial Cup (Grade 3)

The Hamilton Police Service Bowl (Grade 4)

The Scottish Rite of Hamilton Bowl (Grade 5)

PARKING INFORMATION

As a unique urban gathering, space is limited. Each participating band will receive one parking pass for equipment and essentials within the gated Scottish Rite grounds.

Additional parking for participants and attendees is available at nearby “Green P” lots, just a short walk from the gathering.
